Slice Life

From campus traditions and local events to wild giveaways and unexpected partnerships, this is your inside look at everything cool we’re slicing into.

Virginia Tech Athletics

Our partnership with Virginia Tech Athletics is more than just a sponsorship — it’s a full-circle connection to our roots. Founded by two Hokies with deep ties to Blacksburg, Benny’s is proud to support VT sports and the incredible spirit of Hokie Nation. From the roaring crowds at Lane Stadium to the energy in Cassell Coliseum, you’ll find Benny’s bringing the fun — and the flavor — to game day. Fans love our on-field and on-court promotions, like the “Slice Off”during football games, the “Benny’s Box Toss” at men’s and women’s basketball, and the “What’s in the Benny’s Box?” challenge at baseball and softball matchups. It’s all part of how we celebrate community, school pride, and big slices — right where it all began.

Benny's at Lane

In Fall 2023, we proudly opened as an official vendor inside Virginia Tech’s iconic football stadium — a milestone that means even more with our roots in Blacksburg and ties to Hokie Nation. Located just outside Section 19, our booth is more than a concession stand — it’s a fully operating kitchen where every pizza is made from scratch. Dough is tossed, sauce is spread, and hot pies are flying out of the oven to fuel fans with the slices they know and love. Being part of game day inside Lane is an honor, and we’re proud to serve up big flavor where the Hokies play.

Benny's Invitational

The Benny’s Invitational Pizza Eating Championship is our biggest—and boldest—celebration of pizza yet. As an officially sanctioned Major League Eating event, this competition challenges pros to eat as many Benny’s slices as possible in just 10 minutes. With a grand prize of $2,800 on the line, it’s serious business. We hosted our first championship in 2022 at Benny Marzano’s in Blacksburg, the original Benny’s location, and our second in 2024 at Benny Peretti’s in Philadelphia. Competitive eating legend Geoff Esper holds the champion title for both years, downing 11.5 slices in 2022 and 11 slices in 2024. This event combines the spirit of fun, fierce competition, and our signature oversized slices—all in true Benny’s style.

Benny’s Pizza Peel Initiative

The Pizza Peel Art Initiative is our creative way to spotlight local talent—using the very tools that helped build Benny’s. With locations across several states, we launched this project to repurpose our broken wooden pizza paddles—once used to pull our 28-inch pies from the oven—into unique canvases for community art. The initiative first took shape at our Fredericksburg location, thanks to manager Kyle Kerivan’s idea to repurpose the paddles into artistic displays. As The Roanoke Times described it, “New locally created art decorating the walls inside Benny Marconi’s in downtown Roanoke is displayed on unusual canvases: wooden pizza paddles.” Rather than discard these expensive peels, we invited local artists—from tattooists to muralists—to transform them into one-of-a-kind pieces. We’re proud to support a thriving creative community and bring even more personality to our walls—one painted peel at a time.

Racing Sponsorship

Start your engines… Benny’s is hitting the track! We’re thrilled to announce our sponsorship of Lane Woods Racing — led by 14-year-old phenom and Moneta native, Lane Woods, the youngest driver competing in the NASCAR-sanctioned series at South Boston Speedway! From go-karts at age 5 to outpacing adults on the big stage, Lane is proving age is just a number when you’ve got grit, guts, and gas in your veins. Not to mention — he prefers to power up with his favorite: Benny's Pizza.
